Packers-related emails reveal facts that we didn't know we needed, and not sure we believe (2024)

GREEN BAY – I get emails. Lots and lots of emails. Some of them endeavor to tell us things about ourselves we don't know and find hard to believe.

For example, according to research one report was based on, anywhere from 5% to 12.5% of the residents in three neighborhoods surrounding Lambeau Field primarily speak Polish at home. Jestem zaskoczona (I am surprised).

My job description impels me to be most interested in those dealing with the Green Bay Packers, so here are the latest. They look at Packers' popularity, Packers' fans complaints about, of all things, tailgating, and, conversely, that Packers fans overall are a happy bunch. Among other things.

A lot of these reports come from online betting and gaming sites, which crunch numbers for a living, but also are looking for some attention. So be it.

If you are reading this online, I've provided links to available reports if you want to take a deeper dive.

Report says Lambeau Field is fourth-safest NFL stadium

If you've been to Lambeau Field for any event, the last thing you think about is crime. Of any sort. But according to iGamingNuts, it's only the fourth-safest stadium in the NFL.

IGamingNuts said the ZIP code in which Lambeau resides reported 21.81 crimes per 1,000 residents per year, placing it behind Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts., with 9.36 per thousand, Highmark Stadium in Buffalo with 13.45 per, and MetLife in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with 16.38.

The underlying research for these conclusions is from an organization called NeighborhoodScout, which collects crime and other data by ZIP code. NeighborhoodScout is also the source of the aforementioned data on Polish speakers around Lambeau Field.

It should be noted, however, that in a report by Sportsbook Review, Gillette and Highmark stadiums are in the top five of stadiums where fans feel the least safe. And MetLife Stadium is second on the list of places where fans say they were victims of crime.

So, I guess that leaves Lambeau Field, with all its Polish-speaking neighbors, as the safest place in the NFL. Even for Bears fans. But we knew that.

Soldier Field is more popular than Lambeau Field on Instagram?

Here's something at which the Bears finally beat the Packers: Soldier Field in Chicago gets more Instagram hashtags than Lambeau Field. Jestem zaskoczona, but that's what the report says.

Research fromBonusFinder.comexamined the 30 NFL stadiums and their total number of hashtags onInstagram(sum of the three most frequently used hashtags) to discover which are the most popular on social media. Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers, ranked first, searching hashtags #levisstadium,#levistadiumand#49ersstadium. MetLife and Gillette stadiums were second and third. Soldier Field was fourth and Lambeau Field fifth with hashtags #lambeaufield, #lambeufield and #lambaufield.

Because you are dying to know, M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore ranked last.

Packers are the fifth most-searched team in other countries

FlashPicks says the Packers are the fifth most-searched NFL team in the world, outside of the United States. Why does that bring to mind sports commentators' obscure facts such as "he leads the league in most touchdown passes by a quarterback starting the fourth quarter down by 21 points on the road wearing throwback uniforms"?

The report indicates that the Dallas Cowboys are the No. 1 "Not America's Team" with 440,410 searches per month. The Packers have 284,190 searches. Sandwiched between are the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

Based on percentage of citizens who search for Green Bay Packers, Burkina Faso is No. 1. If you are thinking of going there to meet other Packers fans, you should consider that Burkina Faso also is high on the U.S. State Department's don't-go-there list. Evidence, such as it is, would say Lambeau Field is safer.

The least-searched team in the world, outside of the United States, and possibly in Indiana as well, is the Indianapolis Colts, with 39,780 searches per month. The Packers will play the Colts in their home opener at noon Sept. 15, at Lambeau Field.

Maybe Packers fans just have higher tailgating standards

A study from sports betting siteOLBG.comreveals that Green BayPackersfans rank as the most annoying fanbase when it comes to complaining about tailgating. This most unscientific study determined that an analysis of online conversations found the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, and Cincinnati Bengals as leaders in positive and joyful tailgating foodies online.

OLBG.com said it analyzed social listening data across 26 key terms online associated with tailgating and food at each NFL stadium to rank which fan bases are the fussiest and least fussy when it comes to tailgating festivities. The data was ranked from least to most fussy, indicating who showed more positive and joyful conversations online when discussing food and tailgating.

The Packer were last. Dead last. So far last, they couldn't see next-to-last. Packers fans got 2 out of 100 possible points. Seattle Seahawks fans, who ranked just above Packers fans with 24.3 points, were just grumpy in comparison.

Dallas fans got 70.5 out of 100 possible points.

But Packers fans are otherwise really happy

Three reports indicate Packers fans are happy, or even happier than that, or gosh darn it, really happy.

The Sports Geekused a social listening tool, basically counting the most positive tweets, to determine Packers fans were the eighth-happiest contingent in the NFL during the off-season. Ranking ahead of them were Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans fans.

On the other hand, casino.org used a nationwide survey and a weighted index, assessing factors such as Super Bowl optimism, contentment with management, mood changes when players get injured, irritation levels when their team loses, and more to decide Packers fans were the sixth happiest fans in the league.Ranking ahead of the Packers were the Kansas City Chiefs, 49ers, Ravens, Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carolina Panthers fans were the most miserable, as you might imagine.

And Sportsbook Review used AI facial recognition technology to reveal the emotions of NFL fans from 20,000 fan selfies, with the result that 59% of Packers fans selfies displayed joy. That placed them second behind the Washington Commanders, whose on-field performance hardly compares with the Packers, but when you consider that former owner Dan Snyder is no longer around to torment them, you can understand the smiles.

As for those Packers fans, Lambeau Field is considered in some quarters the best stadium in professional sports. It's not the facilities, which are good, metal benches notwithstanding, but the fans. It was about 80 degrees and humid when Family Night kicked off Saturday and it was, at that moment, the happiest place on earth.

Nie jestem zaskoczony. I am not surprised.
