Serene lodging in a restored 17th-century monastery, offering cozy rooms, a restaurant & yoga.
Short walk up the hill from the train station. Nice rooms with shared bathroom down the hall for the authentic section. Very quiet and cozy beds. Museum was much more extensive than we thought. Private tour of the chapel was very well done.

If you're looking for an interesting place to stay in Quebec City, look no further than the Monastery of the Augustines. This former monastery has been converted into a hotel, and features rooms decorated with religious art and antiques. The best part, though, is that you can sleep in a nuns' room! These rooms are simple but comfortable, and offer a unique experience that you won't find anywhere else. The staff at the monastery are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. If you're looking for a unique and interesting place to stay in Quebec City, the Monastery of the Augustines is definitely worth checking out.

Fantastic experience staying at the monastery hotel. Breakfast is delicious. The decor throughout the property is lovely and interesting. Very nice architecture and so much history. A very special place!

A very comfortable hotel. Walking back to the corridor connecting the museum to the guest room elevator, you will unconsciously feel that your soul has been cleansed! The breakfast is also great. The quiet and noise-free environment of the dining area is very enjoyable. You can quietly and slowly taste the breakfast with natural and simple ingredients without too many processed products. You feel that your day is full of blessed energy! The only small complaint I have is... we are not very tall people, and we stayed in a high-floor room with a queen-sized bed and a private bathroom. On the first day, the two of us got up from the bed or after using the toilet in the bathroom. , we would "unconsciously" hit the sloping ceiling of the attic But this did not affect our love for this place. The "head-bumping experience" only added to the laughter during our three day stay!

I loved my stay and experience at St. Augustine Monastery. The beautiful, blended architecture from historic to contemporary was stunning. I liked that the Augustinian Nuns' message of health, well-being and healing is present throughout your stay, from the messages inscribed on the walls to the healthy meals offered at the restaurant. I look forward to returning again soon.

A unique and beautiful place filled with history honoring amazing women who have selflessly served our province. The perfect place to take a pause, take care of yourself, eat great food, drink awesome tea and recharge your battery. From the slanted staircases to the Augustines' spirit, come experience this amazing place. You will leave inspired and grateful.

Les Monastere des Augustines provides a very different experience. I was awed by the it's history and origins, and the modern continuity of caring and healing, body and soul. Upon entering the building, I felt like a weight had slid off my shoulders...calming. Add in the delicious healthy food, massage, yoga, the museum, and exhibits, & quiet spaces to read or reflect, a very comfortable bed, were all part of my extraordinary stay. Check the website!

An oasis located in the center of Quebec City. The breakfast has lots of choice and the massages were excellent. The monastery itself was very interesting and the tours/guides provided a great overview of the history and how it tied into Quebec City's presence all the way back to the 1600's.

My wife and I did NOT book a room here but did buy two night passes. They included a yoga class, the evening meal and a tour of the facilities. Separately, I booked a massage. That was excellent! Among the best I’ve ever had and I get a lot of massages for my aging body. This place is an oasis and we enjoyed everything about it. It emphasizes the mind-body connection. There is a public room where one is encouraged to sit and gaze at a drawing in a dead quiet space. There is a house where one is encouraged to sketch. There is the ‘museum’ about the Augustine nuns who once ruled the place taking care of sick people. You are very likely to be alone or with your traveling partner in whatever room you choose. All of this is welcome because Quebec City, while charming, can be a bit too touisty. The monastery is 2-3 blocks from the hubub. It’s hard to believe this is a non-profit because its style and design are top notch. There is a gift store that can rival many museums, full of good products. Finally the dinner. It was a buffet in a gorgeously modern dining room. The beef my wife had was cooked for hours and just fell apart upon eating it. The salmon I had was excellent. Plus there was a good soup, a salad bar, a do it yourself cheese and fruit plate and dessert. Alcohol was extra but the dinner was all your can eat. This place is well worth visiting for a day or night pass especially if you’re tired of a busy streets. What’s more, we stumbled upon a very French bistro a block away. It’s called Chez Temporal. But that’s another review.

Although a few things were amiss- it is a WONDERFUL place to stay and a hidden jewl of the city!! It is within the walls of the OLD CITY and truly a treasure. I mentioned in my comments, it would have been nice to have two seats in the room and the A/C was probably working to its capacity, we just didn't find it cooling the room off at all.

The cleanliness of this place is beyond words - is part of the experience. Nothing looks busy in the Monastère, despite of the centuries-old-stern-looking furnitures. They managed to modernize the building and still respect the architecture and, most importantly, the philosophy of the Sisters.I sort of had the expectation of encountering a lost soul or a ghost, but then I remembered that this place was built for healing and caring. Definitely the most peaceful haven I've stayed in a busy/touristy city.

The monastery has a rich and interesting history. The museum conveys that well and explains the important role played by the sisters in healthcare. The current incarnation of the monastery, as a wellness hotel, is well thought through.

We had an amazing time in Le Monastère des Augustines. This is a very peaceful, quite and beautiful place full with history. The food was delicious, rooms were spotless, and the staff were kind and helpful. A shout out to Julie at the front desk who assisted us with guidance and advice (very helpful when looking for accommodation solutions due to a winter storm). We'll definitely be back.

I'd stayed at the hotel several years ago and the experience had been so restorative and calming that we had to come back a second time. We love the overall wellness concept and silent breakfasts, as well as experiencing the monastery's history and being part of the preservation of it. The location is perfectly central to Old Quebec and makes it very easy to explore on foot. We also greatly enjoyed the Stom Spa experience, and the hotel staff made it very easy to book it in advance. Wonderful stay overall and although it's not the most conventional, we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a calming, spiritual retreat.

I was very excited to stay in such a special, historic and unique hotel. I chose the authentic room which was perfectly fine although I did not realize there was no bathroom in the room (there are a few in the hall). After the initial shock I got used to it.The silent breakfast was right up my alley. For most people (with no dietary restrictions) the breakfast is fabulous and healthy. I also had dinner twice which was delicious and the chef was so kind to work around my gluten allergy.I really enjoyed walking and reading in the serene garden. The museum and the chapel are also interesting.Make sure to try the herbal teas - I ended up buying the whole box from their boutique. The location is great - I found using the second floor door much more convenient to walk around. The staff was pleasant and helpful.Merci beaucoup!

A very pleasant stay. The grounds are beautiful and it is very conveniently located close to the train station and old city. The room was clean and comfortable. I was in a room with a shared bathroom, but the bathrooms were clean and there was always one available when needed. They are also individual bathrooms with a toilet, shower and sink in one room, rather than a room with multiple stalls (like a public restroom). I preferred this as it provided more privacy. The breakfast is taken in silence. The food was delicious with many nutritious options.

I stayed in the traditional room and found it to be really great! It was a bit inconvenient to have to use a bathroom down the hall, but it necessary to allow the rooms to be as close as possible to what the nuns would have experienced. There were these old hooks on the wall that you erent allowed to use, and the window did not open, thought the AC worked well. The sheets are super nice. The silent breakfast was very good, but some of the other guests didn't seem to get the memo and were whispering or had alarms go off on their phones. The highlight of our stay was the tour of the museum, specifically our tour guide Anne. She was very knowledgeable, kept the tour going at a good place and was skilfully able to tell the story of the monastery and bring it to life. The location is very good.

I loved my most recent stay here and I will most likely be back at the same time next year. The hotel was exceptional! So clean, staff very helpful, breakfast perfect! I stayed in a traditional room with a shared bathroom. Was a bit reluctant when I booked bc I didn’t know what to expect. There were plenty of bathrooms and it seems that they were constantly being cleaned after use which I loved. I never had to wait to use the bathroom. My only regret was having dinner at the hotel. As I found that there were not many options for a vegetarian- maybe it was that particular night- not sure and it was a little pricey considering I didn’t eat much. Other than that a beautiful stay and walking distance to all of old Quebec City. Gorgeous weather as well.

The atmosphere is so serene, so peaceful, and the whole place smells so good. My traditional room for one is a historic nun’s cell—cosy, with a very comfortable single bed and exposed rafters overhead. Dinner was virtuous and healthy, lots of veggies, many salads, with a meat, fish, and veggie entree. Expertly made and so fresh. I loved going through the convent museum, which puts the whole building and culture in context. Also: I spent too much in the gift shop. 🤣

I could not be more pleased with my stay at this beautiful establishment. From the history of the St. Augustine sisters to the museum incorporated into the space to honor them and their efforts with health and wellness, I was always in awe. This was truly a beautiful space for mental wellness since there are no phones or TVs in the rooms and very little noise or commotion. The rooms were just enough (contemporary) for us to enjoy the space and keep us engaged in exploring Quebec City.

Definitely not your typical hotel. Superb location, great place to relax in the heart of Quebec. Staff very friendly. The history of the place is really interesting. Try the breakfast in silence for a couple of days and you may find yourself leaning in to the vibe !

Our experience at this establishment was horrendous. Upon arrival, we were shocked to discover that there were no private bathrooms, a crucial detail that was never communicated to us. Instead, the bathrooms are shared with other guests, which is highly inconvenient and unsanitary. The rooms themselves were incredibly small, dirty, and reeked of a terrible odor.A fellow guest also expressed her dissatisfaction, reinforcing our negative experience. The staff's response to our concerns was not only unhelpful but also demeaning. After checking in, we quickly realized the situation was unacceptable and requested a refund. Despite not using or touching anything in the room, our request was flatly denied, resulting in a significant loss of thousands of dollars. They really damaged our budget on our vacation. It’s just a big insult to us.The entire experience was deeply disappointing and embarrassing. We strongly advise against staying here.

What a wonderful place! Rooms are small but clean. Shared bathrooms are clean. The property is historic yet modern. But what makes this place next level are its people. The people who work here are so kind! My French is not the best yet many were willing and very kind when speaking English to me. I would not hesitate to stay here again when in Québec City.

Look no further for a simple, but also comfortable and reasonably priced, accommodation in Old Quebec. Staff is so nice. Guided tour was very informative.

Updated but spartan rooms, very clean, some have a room with a bathroom. No TV. Many historic original rooms have a shared bathroom. Included Museum and English or French tour was very educational. Very healthy organic breakfast and dinner. The experience takes you back to the 1600s monastery life with a renovated flare.Easy walk into the tourist areas of Québec city. Restaurants and shops on every corner.

We had a great stay in old Quebec. We enjoyed the historical nature of the property and the lovely displays that lined the hallways where we could learn about the history of this convent. Rooms were simply, but comfortably decorated.
